Care & Repair
SSON pieces are carefully crafted from existing materials, each with its own structure and character. Good care keeps the fabric stable, the fit precise, and the garment in use for years.
Washing
-
- Turn garments inside out to protect the surface
- Use cold water and a gentle cycle
- Avoid fabric softeners — they weaken fibers
- When uncertain, choose a careful hand wash
- Wash only when necessary
Drying
-
- Skip machine drying - heat shortens the lifespan of textiles
- Air dry, either laid flat or hung depending on the piece
- Reshape the garment while damp to maintain its form
Ironing & Steaming
-
- Steaming is generally safer and preserves the fabric better
- If ironing, start on low heat and increase only if needed
- Iron garments inside out
Storage
-
- Store in a cool, dry place
- Use wide hangers for shirts and jackets to support the shoulders
- Fold knitwear and store stacked to avoid stretching
Repairs
-
- Repairing extends the life of the piece and preserves the integrity of the material
- Address small issues early - loose threads, buttons or minor tears
- Basic mending can be done at home; for structural repairs, use a tailor
Long-Term Care
-
- Rotate your wardrobe to reduce wear on any single item
- Spot clean stains promptly
- Brush wool pieces with a soft garment brush to lift dust and refresh the fibers
